Uche Sparks Comfortable Crystal Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct entry to the last 16, particularly after a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Dominance Asserted from the Outset

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

The formerArsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
